new urgency for a climate change accord

the latest set of reports from the UN-backed Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change indicate that global greenhouse-gas emissions must peak around 2015, then fall 50 to 80 percent below 1990 levels by midcentury, if governments hope to keep global warming's impact to a minimum.

Yvo de Boer, executive secretary of the body overseeing the 1992 UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, cites International Energy Agency figures that indicate soaring demand for electricity – driven in large part by new electricity demands in the developing world – will require a $20 trillion investment in new power plants over the next 25 years. Each new plant would run for decades. Absent an international policy to reduce emissions outright or reduce their growth rate, "we will see global emissions go up by 50 percent, not down by 50 percent" by midcentury, he says.

Geez I am frightened to think about the feature.
I hope that they will take some measures.
I am in my early 20's and live in Eastern Europe.
Winters are famous here... or at least where....
My parents always keep telling me that the winters when they where childeren had weeks with 1meter high snow and sometimes almost up to the window-level of the houses. Now I am lucky to see once or twice during a winter season a snow level over 30cm.
I admit that this year was a nice winter with a lot of cold and snow... but this is like a winter out of 5.... the other 4 years prior to this one where warm winters....
I don't want to turn up telling to my kids... You know during my time we had snow..... and need to bring them into the mountains so that they can see it.... :(
Will human live to play football on other planets or sollar systems? Or at least inhabit there and watch football highlights from Terra at the TV? I wonder are the astronauts allowed to watch TV in space? :)
